The Pres are back into training for another year!
It has been over two months since school started, and the Presentation sports teams are busy training for their upcoming matches. So far, we have had a basketball blitz and a match, two Gaelic football matches, and a camogie game.
The Pres under 16s and under 19s basketball team had their first blitz of the year. Our first two matches were up against Abbey Community College and Waterpark College on the 23rd of September. The under 16s unfortunately lost the first game but came back with a terrific rebound for the second. The under 19s played excellently and won both games. Everyone was thrilled that all the training paid off.
The next basketball match took place on Tuesday, 15th October. The girls had been busy with practice for the upcoming game. This match was against Grennan College, Thomastown. Both the under 16s and 19s faced tough opposition but continued to give it their all! Unfortunately, this game was a loss for both teams. After the game, basketball coach Ms. Cooney said, “Both teams have been training hard. They played really well on Tuesday. We’re proud of their achievements so far.”
The Gaelic football teams also had a couple of matches over the past two weeks. Their first game was up against Ardscoil na Mara on October 11th. This was a very tough game, resulting in a loss for both teams. However, the girls had been training hard for their next game against Waterpark College and achieved a fantastic win on Thursday, the 17th of October.
Lastly, the camogie teams have been busy training for their match on Thursday the 17th. The Pres were up against Waterpark College. The two teams were excellent and secured both wins.
The Camogie senior team also went on to play against St Ailbe’s from Tipperary town just last week. The Pres girls were fantastic, and the score was 6-21 to 0-2, earning a well-deserved victory for the Presentation camogie team. The camogie Juniors have their upcoming game this Monday and are busy with practice.
This is just the beginning for the Pres sports teams. The girls are just getting started and will continue to train for the matches ahead. Go team Pres!
